Lewis University and International Student Services hosted representatives from the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan while considering participation as a Fellow Hosting institution. The program is part of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the United States Department of State.
Global UGRADS- Pakistan provides opportunities for current undergraduate students from Pakistan to spend one academic semester of non-degree study in a US university or community college. Participants are selected through an open, merit-based competition. International Student Services Director Michael Fekete welcomed Ms. Maryam Jillani from their Education Program Division.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to culturally enrich the university community while at the same time bring emerging student leaders from Pakistan to the US. The Global Fellows become citizen ambassadors, bolstering diplomatic and development ties between the two countries. Global UGRAD also has a sister-program in Eurasia and Central Asia which provides one academic year of non-degree study” said Michael Fekete.
Presently local institutions North Central College and Elmhurst College have been participating program hosts.
