My name is Yiwei Zhou, Graduate Assistant of International Student Services. I came from Nanjing, China and in May 2014 I graduated from Lewis University with a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Administration / Aircraft Dispatch. Currently I am pursuing my MBA here at Lewis.
I enjoy being an international student of Lewis as the school offers students high quality education with a charming small community atmosphere. I am honored and humbled to work in the ISS Office, using my knowledge and personal background to help our international students have a productive college experience in America.
I was also a player on the Lewis University Men's Volleyball Team-one of the top ten NCAA Men’s Volleyball programs in the country. While I was a student athlete, I liked and appreciated the opportunity of competing in collegiate volleyball at a very high level, while maintaining the balance between academics and sports.
My name is Lauren and I am from Brussels, Belgium. I speak fluent French, English and Spanish. I started studying Flight Management with a minor in Aviation Administration at Lewis in January 2014. I am also a student employee working for International Student Services on a part-time basis, which I consider a great opportunity.
Becoming an airline pilot has been my ultimate dream for as long as I can remember. Therefore, I am very grateful to be able to achieve such a lifetime aspiration. I am very excited and enthusiastic about studying at Lewis because it embraces my personal learning style. The individualized teaching environment fulfills my needs as a student and provides me with the support I need to go through rewarding experiences.
In addition, I am a board member of the International Student Association (ISA). We thrive to provide students with entertaining and meaningful events such as among others bowling, lunches on and off of campus, and cinema. ISA also engages in charity events in order to help those in need such as Relay for Life, Feed my Starving Children, and clothes drive. Moreover, I am a member of the university’s Flight Team.
During my spare time, I mainly enjoy taking part in activities such as roller inline skating, ice skating, skiing, writing poetry and traveling.
My Name is Fed Gerard Ortiz. I come from and have spent most of my life in the Philippines. When I was 13 years of age, I moved to Uganda, Africa and graduated from the International School of Uganda. I belong to Lewis University’s class of 2017 and I’m majoring in Aviation Flight Management, as well as a double major in Transportation Administration and a minor in Dispatch. Apart from being a student, I also work with the fun loving and goal oriented individuals at the International Student Services office as a student worker.
Having a father who has an aviation background enabled me to experience the realm of aviation which has ultimately influenced and guided my decision to study at Lewis University. Having an international background, I enjoy studying as an international student here at Lewis University, the close-knit community enables me to not only learn about my field of choice, but to learn more about different individuals and groups around me.
Outside academics, I also serve as the president of the International Student Association. Being a member of such a phenomenal group has enabled me to participate in different social and charity events on and off campus.
