The Lewis University Office of Veteran Affairs played a major role in coordinating and executing the Setting Up Strategic Assets: Bridges to Employment events, which were designed to educate veterans on the translation of skill sets they bring from their military service to the civilian sector.
Twelve Lewis University students were among the hundreds of veterans that attended the events and learned valuable material about their future careers. Attendees learned more about the transition from military service to the civilian sector though panel discussions, and enhanced their networking skills through an open forum networking session with corporate partners such as Kraft Foods, Sears and Goldman Sachs.
Roman Ortega Jr, director of the Office of Veteran Affairs and Recruitment, served as an executive director to a team of 10 representatives of various organizations in Illinois to make the Bridges to Employment events possible.
