Job coach speaks to National Communication Association Student Club

Job coach and Lewis University alumna Karen Marvinac spoke about preparing for a communications career at the October National Communication Association Student Club meeting at Lewis University.

"This interactive presentation was of value to our Mass Communication and Organizational Communication students,” Lisa O’Toole, assistant professor of communications and NCASC adviser, said. “Karen provided a great deal of advice on the value of undergraduate employment, networking and volunteerism as tools for an entry level communications career."

Marvinac is a popular guest lecturer on topics related to employability in today’s competitive culture. She coaches individuals in the job search process and runs a networking group for people in career transitions. Marvinac uses her expertise to recommend the best practices for job seekers and has worked extensively with college graduates.

The National Communication Association Student Club is an academic organization recognized by Lewis University. The organization promotes the study, teaching and application of principles of communication through education and social functions. While connecting members with students from all communication majors and minors, NCASC provides an outlet for members to explore the communication field in both professional and scholarly aspects.
