Lewis’ WLRA Presents “Un Poco De Todo”

Published: February 11, 2008.

Lewis University’s radio station, WLRA 88.1 FM, will present a new program “Un Poco de Todo” every Sunday at 9 p.m. “Un poco de todo” means “this and that” in Spanish. The show will feature Latin American music, featuring accomplished artists like Astor Piazolla. Lewis University chose to introduce the program as another way for its students to study Latin American culture.

The program will begin as an hour-long event, displaying a mix of Latin American dance and classical music. The radio station hopes to eventually expand to other types of music, including traditional Brazilian and Portuguese, and also would like to expand the length of the program until midnight.

“Un Poco de Todo” is funded by a Title VI Grant from the U.S. Department of Education, and part of a larger initiative to advance Spanish and Portuguese studies at Lewis. Dr. Ewa Bacon, the grant’s Director and Professor of History at Lewis, approached WLRA about starting the music program upon receiving the grant during the fall 2007 semester.
