Over 1,300 Degrees Conferred May 15-16 at Lewis University

Lewis University celebratedCommencement ceremonies for more than 1,300 students May 15-16 on the university’s campus in Romeoville. 

The weekend began at noon on Friday, May 15, in the Sancta Alberta Chapel with a Mass of Celebration for all the accomplishments of our graduates, as well as for the love and support of their families, friends, and educators.  

The Afternoon Degree Ceremonybegan at 3:30 p.m. for the College of Aviation, Science, and Technology undergraduate and graduate degree recipients. 

Micah West, Aviation Maintenance Technology Bachelor’s Degree recipient, offered the Student Lasallian Commencement Address to share insights on the University Mission values and their meaning to his education. 

During the ceremony, Joshua Brown, Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree recipient, was recognized with the Father Aquinas Colgan Award. It’s the university’s highest honor for academic achievement, leadership, and service. 

Lewis University Alumnus Dr. Arvid Johnson received an honorary degree for his life’s work in advancing science, higher education, and student success as a researcher, board member, dean, and university president. 

The Evening Degree Ceremony honored the graduates of the College of Education and Social Sciences as well as the College of Humanities, Fine Arts, and Communications. This ceremony honored students not only receiving their bachelor’s and master’s degrees but also those receiving their doctoral degrees. 

Anna Sense, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s Degree recipient, offered the Student Lasallian Commencement Address to share insights on the University Mission values and their meaning to her education. 

On Saturday, May 16, the Morning Degree Ceremonyfeatured the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. This ceremony honored students not only receiving their bachelor’s and master’s degrees but also those receiving their doctoral degrees. 

The Saturday Afternoon Degree Ceremony honored the College of Business undergraduate and graduate degree recipients.
