Jimmy Mwanga Signs with Qingdao Red Lions in China

The Qingdao Red Lions announced the signing of Lewis men's soccer alumnus Jimmy Mwanga to its football club. Mwanga joins the Red Lions after playing for Alsancak Yesilova SK in Izmir, Turkey.
The Qingdao Red Lions are in China League One in the second tier and play its games at Tiantai Stadium. in Qingdao, Shandong. The team is currently in its season and has played 15 matches and have recorded 17 points with a 4-6-5 record.
Mwanga played for the Lewis men's soccer program from 2019-2021 after transferring from Eastern Florida State College. During his three seasons at Lewis, Mwanga played in 53 matches and started in 47 for the Flyers.
The forward from Dublin, Ireland recorded 21 total goals and picked up 10 assists during his tenure at Lewis. Mwanga was awarded D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team, United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region First Team and All-GLVC First Team Honors during his fifth year at Lewis.
Mwanga led the Flyers to a 12-5-3 record during his fifth year in 2021 and their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2013. Lewis defeated Davenport in the first round before falling to Lake Erie in the second.
