Four Flyers Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors for Women's Basketball

The College Sports Communicators announced the 2023-24 Academic All-District Women's Basketball teams Tuesday (March 26), with Lewis University earning four honores. Jenna Badali (Oak Lawn, Ill./Mother McAuley), Tara Gugliuzza (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West), Taylor Gugliuzza (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) and Kathryn Schmidt (Hampshire, Ill./Burlington Central) all earned the academic honor. In order to qualify, student-athletes must compete in 90% of their institution's games/contests/sets played or must start in at least 66% of the games/contests/sets in addition to achieving a high-level of academic success in the classroom.
Badali, a sport management major, has earned a cumulative 3.84 GPA, was named second team All-GLVC for the second consecutive year and earned GLVC Tournament MVP honors this season. The redshirt junior led Lewis with 4.6 assists per game, and averaged 14.0 points per game while playing and starting 30 games for the Flyers.
Tara Gugliuzza (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West), studying marketing, has earned a 3.61 cumulative GPA after posting a 4.0 GPA in the fall of 2023. The junior played in 29 games this year for the Flyers, starting two and averaged 2.3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.
Taylor Gugliuzza (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West), majoring in criminal justice, has earned a cumulative 3.88 GPA and earned her second consecutive second team All-GLVC honor this season. The senior averaged 12.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while playing and starting all 32 games for Lewis.
Schmidt, a psychology major, has earned a 3.99 cumulative GPA and was named second team All-GLVC for the third time in her career this season. The senior led the Flyers with 6.2 rebounds per game and averaged 11.3 points per game while playing in 30 games for Lewis, starting 29.
