Men's Cross Country Wins a Title at National Catholic Invite

Lewis Men's Cross Country Captures Small School Title at National Catholic Invitational Friday

The Lewis University men's cross country team finished first in the small school division including NCAA DII schools and tied for third overall, at the National Catholic Invitational Friday (Sept. 15). The Flyers finished with 105 points.

Leading the way for Lewis was junior Charlie Wirth (Greenville, Wis./Hortonville) who finished the 5K race with a time of 25:23.0 and won the small school title. Senior Sean Ryan (Independence, KY/Saint Henry) was the next Flyer to cross the finish line after recording a time of 25:34.8.

Sophomore Owen Thomas (Valparaiso, IN/Morgan Township) was not far behind Ryan as he finished with a time of 25:55.8. Graduate student Patrick Hennessey (Williamsport, Ind./Seeger) crossed the finish line next for Lewis after recording the time of 25:59.0.

Freshman Evan Horgan (Loves Park, Ill./Belvidere North) was right behind Hennessey after finishing the race with a time of 26:01.6. Rounding out the top seven for Lewis was senior Casey Quintana (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) who had a time of 26:12.7.
