Aviation Experts Share Insights with Chicago Media

A few recent aviation unusual incidents led several Chicago media outlets to Lewis University Aviation and Transportation Studies for expert explanation and analysis.

On January 10, a private pilot, unrelated to Lewis University made an emergency landing on Veterans Memorial Tollway near Bolingbrook. Dan Magner, assistant chief pilot at Lewis University, happened to drive by the airplane on the side of the expressway and offered some comments to FOX32 Chicago about the incident as well as his expert aviation insight.

On January 11, the FAA grounded all domestic airplanes for a few hours due to a computer malfunction. Dr. Ryan Phillips, Chair and Professor, Aviation discussed with ABC7 Chicago what impact the Notice to Air Missions system (NOTAM system) has on pilots.
