Published: March 12, 2019.

Lewis' Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) headlines the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America Division II Women's basketball teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Tuesday.

Kelliher becomes the first player in school history to earn the award. She is the 48th Academic All-American in school history and 46th since 2000.

An organizational communications major with a 3.84 grade point average, she is making her second straight appearance on the Academic All-America women's basketball team also earning first-team honors last season. Kelliher is the three-time GLVC Player of the Year, has won 20 GLVC Player of the Week honors in her career, is a two-time D2CCA, WBCA and Division II Bulletin All-American and a three-time Academic All-GLVC selection and Br. David Delahanty Award winner, given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence.

"Jess has not only shown her prowess on the court but most importantly in the classroom," Lewis head women's basketball coach Samantha Quigley Smith said. "The emphasis on "Student" Athlete to Jess is something she takes to heart. She wants to be the best to and for everyone she encounters. Her excellence in the classroom proves she is a competitor in all facets of life. I am so happy and proud to have been a part of her career."

The Waukesha, Wis., native ranks fifth all-time in Division II history with her 2,715 points scored and is currently tied for second in Division II history with 1,074 field goals made. She leads the team and the GLVC in scoring at 24.3 points per game while her 9.8 rebounds rank second in the conference. She is the active leading scorer in Division II and second among all active players in Division I, II and III women's basketball.

In the win over William Jewell last Friday she eclipsed the 1,000 rebound mark for her career becoming just the 33rd player in Division II history to record over 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career.

The Flyers open play in the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 2:30 p.m. as the number two seed in the Midwest Region and will take on the number seven seed Walsh Cavaliers at Drury's O'Reilly Family Events Center.
