Stuart Rosenberg Ensemble performs at Lewis University’s Spring 2014 Performing Arts Series

Lewis University will host the Stuart Rosenberg Ensemble as the second performance of the Spring 2014 Performing Arts Series. The ensemble will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 in the Sancta Alberta Chapel on the university’s main campus in Romeoville. Admission to the event is free for Lewis students, $5 for guests and $10 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling (815) 836-5500.

A master of the musical traditions of many lands, Stuart Rosenberg is comfortably fluent in a wide variety of vernacular styles. Leading a stellar ensemble on violin and mandolin, he will perform traditional Klezmer, Yiddish and continental music. Rosenberg has appeared on "A Prairie Home Companion" with Garrison Keillor and on the stage of Symphony Center with Sir Georg Solti and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He was instrumental in the revival of traditional Klezmer music as a founder of the Chicago Klezmer Ensemble. He also has been a host and producer for WBEZ, WFMT, WNUR and WCBR, as well as spending nearly 20 years as cultural critic at large for Chicago Magazine.

This event is being presented as a part of Lewis University’s Arts & Ideas Program, providing cultural and educational programming for students and the community. A portion of the Arts & Ideas events is sponsored by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.
