No. 5 Lewis Women’s Track and Field Finishes Third at Pat Heenan Invitational

The fifth ranked Lewis women's track and field team finished third with 77 points at the Pat Heenan Invitational hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Ill., on Friday. Lane Kadlec (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) won the weight throw setting a new school and personal record in the process.

Kadlec's fifth throw in the weight throw went a distance of 60' 6" and improved her provisional qualifying mark in the event. Kianna Clark (Lake in the Hills, Ill./Crystal Lake South) finished second in the event with a toss of 55' 2.75" while Kylie Wymer (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) took eighth in the event with a throw of 48' 9.5".

Kadlec and Wymer also finished second and sixth respectively in the shot put. Kadlec's best toss was 46' 0.50", while Wymer's was 40' 2.25".

Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) cleared a height of 10' 11.75" to finish third in the pole vault.

Anna Laudizio (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) took sixth in the long jump with a jump of 17' 5.25". She also finished third in the triple jump with a jump of 37' 0.50".

Natasha Bernett () finished second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.05 seconds.

In the women's 400-meter dash Vivica Phillips (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South HS) took eighth in a time of 1:00.70.

Jada Hoffman (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy) and Carrie Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake HS) finished first and sixth respectively in the 60 meter dash with times of 7.81 and 8.06 respectively. Johnson also finished sixth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.40 seconds.

Lewis also sent a group of athletes to the Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.

Allison Heinzer (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland HS) and Cierra Pulliam (Plainfield, Ill./Romeoville) finished first and fifth respectively in the 200 meter dash. Heinzer improved her provisional qualifying mark with a time of 24.36 seconds while Pulliam crossed the line at 24.93 seconds.

"I'm very happy with the meet as a whole," Lewis head women's track and field coach Dana Schwarting said. "I thought the team did a great job of really cheering each other on and creating some energy in the building. We are starting to hit our stride at the right time of the year."

The Flyers are back in action next Friday taking part in the Lee Slick Invitational hosted by North Central College.
