Published: February 2, 2018.

The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced on Thursday (Feb. 1) that Lewis University senior Nico Mueller (Braunschweig, Germany/Raabeschule Braunschweig) has been named the GLVC Men's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Mueller has a cumulative GPA of 3.74 in psychology following the Fall '17 semester.

"I'm so happy for Nico, he epitomizes the term student athlete," Lewis head men's soccer coach Evan Fiffles said. "His coaches, teammates and university are so proud of him and what he has accomplished while attending Lewis."

He finished the 2017 season with 13 goals, including six game-winners, to go along with two assists.

He was twice named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week and was the United Soccer Coaches Division II Player of the Week on Oct. 24 after scoring five goals in two games. He also was a First Team All-GLVC selection.

Mueller recorded a hat trick in a 3-2 win over Quincy (Oct. 20) and was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region First Team.

He also was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Men's Soccer Academic All-America Third Team.
