Dr. Jan Mines Earns National Lasallian Educator Award

Published: December 1, 2017.

Dr. Jeanette Mines, academic associate to the provost at Lewis University, was one of several educators recently honored by the Lasallian Region of North America with the Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award as part of the Huether Lasallian Conference in Denver. The award at Huether is sponsored by the Lasallian Region of North America in the name of all Lasallians in the region.

In over 25 years of service to Lewis University, the Lemont resident has made extraordinary contributions to the Lasallian character of the University as an outstanding professor, founding dean of the College of Education, and as a skilled administrator.

“Most importantly, she has lived out De La Salle’s exhortation to “touch hearts” through her work with students and in her interactions with colleagues. Known for her sense of humor and honesty, her inspiring example, and her thoughtful mentoring of young faculty and students, she represents what is most appreciated about educators in the Lasallian tradition,” Dr. Kurt Schackmuth, vice president for mission and interim associate provost for Academic Affairs, stated.

Lewis University is an innovative and entrepreneurial Catholic university offering market-relevant undergraduate and graduate programs to 6,500 students. Sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, Lewis University is nationally recognized for preparing intellectually engaged, ethically grounded, globally connected and socially responsible graduates.
