Lewis Students Present at History Conference

Published: June 12, 2017.

Two Lewis University students presented their papers at the 59th Annual Missouri Conference on History, March 22-24, at the University Plaza Hotel in Springfield, Missouri.

Melissa Churchill of Lynwood presented “Concepts of Power in Iran during the Cold War, “and Richard Maska of Lemont presented his paper, “Canadian Soldiers and the Nascent Nationalism of the 1885 North-West Rebellion.”

The Missouri Conference on History brings together historians to share in the presentation of the results of research, to exchange information on teaching and curriculum, and to consider ways to promote interest in history and the welfare of the profession.

The program enables the students to network with other professionals in the field of history and to hear from distinguished historians, professors, and authors presenting to the community.

The scholarly experience for Churchill and Maska was supported by the Lewis’ Student Academic Conference Support Program which approved the cash award to cover projected expenses for the conference.
