Rooted in the Lasallian Catholic heritage, the Gros Institute creates a place of welcome and belonging; informs and educates through curricular and co-curricular programs; and builds relationships to strive together for just peace. The Institute connects ecumenical, interfaith, and humanist partners to collaborate and advance action toward social justice at Lewis University and in the broader community.

Institute Goals

  • Build relationships and cultivate engaged pluralism with intra-faith, interfaith and intercultural partners across the Lasallian global network and in the broader community.

  • Understand and analyze the challenges of the times through intentional dialogues toward social action.

  • Leverage and grow cross-university connections to build bridges and collaborate toward justice through academic (especially through Peace & Justice Studies and its interdisciplinary partners) and co-curricular experiences.

  • Mobilize students, colleagues, and community partners to be agents for transformation and justice.
