Zety.com just released their report of the Top Skills Employers Look For 2021. What is interesting, the strongest skills reported on are often referred to as “soft skills.”
According to Zety, 61% of employers rate soft skills as more important in the search for new employees. Soft skills include areas such as:
- Time management
- Creativity Leadership
While hard skills are rated as slightly less important, they still play a strong factor and lean toward areas such as:
- Analytical skills
- IT skills
- Computer knowledge
- Project management
Together, it really forms the definition of what a liberal arts student is exposed to in college.
At Lewis, we like to tell students they will leave us as “Master Learners” in their chosen major, but they will also develop the skills, depth and breadth across multiple areas so that they can adapt to an ever-changing world of work.
As technology advances across all industries, the skills of a liberal arts graduate are increasingly in demand.
