Doherty Center

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Students of Lewis University,

Welcome to the Colonel Stephen S. and Lyla Doherty Center for Aviation and Health Research website. The Doherty Center is a research center at Lewis University that promotes scholarship among faculty, students, and community partners in the areas of aviation and health.

The Doherty Center funds research and scholarly initiatives; encourages partnerships among the University, its students and the community; and provides opportunities for research experiences for students with faculty mentors.  Investigators supported by the Doherty Center have focused on areas such as wound management, flight deck laser illumination, the environment, MRSA, alternative fuels for aviation, biochemistry related to Alzheimer’s Disease, self-assembling DNA complexes, and nurse practitioner perceived readiness for practice. Summaries of funded studies are accessible from the menu on the left side of the screen.

Interested persons are welcome to contact the Doherty Center at Dohertycenter@lewisu.edu to learn more about opportunities for contributing to our research enterprise. Together we can promote scholarship, enhance student learning, and strengthen professional and community relationships.

Warm regards,
