Blackboard Live Q&A Support Sessions

Students who need assistance transitioning to online learning via Blackboard can attend a virtual Q&A sessions with Melissa Eichelberger during one of the dates/times below. ONLINE TUTORING

Limited peer-to-peer tutoring online is available. Students also have access to Brainfuse, a service of real tutors in a wide range of subjects including Business, Computers and Technology, English, Math, Nursing and Science. More details can be found at www.lewisu.edu/academicsupport.

ONLINE ACADEMIC COACHING

If any student would like to have an online academic coaching session with a Student Success Coordinator, they can email academicservices@lewisu.edu. Advisors are available to meet by phone, email or video conference. Ongoing sessions or single sessions with students are available based on what they need/want.

ONLINE ACADEMIC ADVISING & REGISTRATION SUPPORT

Registration for Fall 2020 begins Monday, March 30. Students will still need to “meet” with their advisor via email, phone or online chat/video. Students should communicate with their advisor to determine the best option. Students with a declared major are advised by a faculty member in the major department. Students who are still exploring majors and are undecided are advised by a Student Success Coordinator from Academic Services. Visit www.lewisu.edu/readytoregister for additional information

ACCOMMODATED TESTING CENTER

The Accommodated Testing Center will have temporary hours of operation while courses are online. The adjusted hours are as follows:

Tuesday and Thursday: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., by appointment only. (Other dates and times can be arranged with advance notice).

Students can email learningaccess@lewisu.edu to make an appointment.

  • learningaccess@lewisu.edu – Resource for current students with accommodations in place, along with their faculty. Also a good resource for any student with disabilities looking for information about accommodations. Commonly used for students who utilize the Accommodated Testing Center as a part of their accommodations.

 BURSAR OFFICE

With respect to the recent guidelines for protecting students, faculty, and staff, the Bursar Office will continue servicing students through the following virtual office systems: Lewis University phone, Lewis University email, myLewis portal, and lewisu.afford.com/ContactUs  or 1-800-263-0665.  The Bursar Office will continue its daily routine of assisting students and families and consulting with various offices as needed. There is no in-person service available at this time. Students and families should call or email the staff for assistance.

A monitored drop box (located to the left of the Bursar Office door in the main lobby) is available to accept payments, deposits, or other material that needs to be shared with offices. 

TUITION

Staff will continue to process payments received from the mail weekly.  The Office has a secure drop box located by the entrance door for students/parents that would like drop off checks.  All other billing and payment information is available at lewisu.afford.com

FEDEX OFFICE

Effective 3/30/2020, the following changes will be temporarily implemented:

All orders should be placed through the website: (https://printonline.fedex.com/v3.8.0_s8/lewisu/) or via e-mail (usa0375@fedex.com). 

  • Pick-ups at campus will be canceled until further notice.
  • Deliveries will not be affected at this time.  All packages will be delivered to Shipping and Receiving and then to campus on Fridays.
SHIPPING AND RECEIVING

Effective 3/30/2020, the Shipping and Receiving site will be open:
Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm
Friday from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm

All Lewis University deliveries will be accepted at:
1312 Enterprise Drive Unit J, Romeoville IL 60446

If you wish to arrange a package pick up, please call 815-836-5420 to schedule your appointment. Otherwise packages will be delivered to the mailroom for Friday pick up.

MAILROOM (EMPLOYEES)

Effective 3/23/2020, the Mailroom will be open Fridays from 8:30 am until 12:00 pm (noon).

Incoming mail - If you normally pick up your mail and packages from the mailroom, you may pick them up on Friday mornings.  Mail and packages will be delivered to the following offices on Fridays between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm (noon).

All other essential mail may be picked up in the mailroom on Fridays.

Outgoing mail – Outgoing mail can be dropped off at the mailroom on Fridays.  Outgoing mail will also be picked up from those offices noted above at the time the incoming mail is delivered and will be taken to the mailroom for processing. Large mailings (100+ pieces) will require at least a 2 day lead time for preparation and scheduling pickup.

MAILROOM (STUDENTS)

Effective 3/23/2020, the mailroom will be open Fridays from 8:30 am until 12:00 pm (noon).  Mail and packages can be picked up during this time frame, if you wish.  If you previously had your textbooks, medication, or other items already delivered to campus, please contact Juanita Pasternak (PasterJu@lewisu.edu) to make arrangements to either pick up these packages or mailed to your home. Currently, the USPS will not re-route student mail to their home that was address to their campus address. Please double check your delivery address for all new orders, be sure you have entered your home address.

Some of these hours may only have online response appointments available based on our tutors' availability.

For Online Response Appointments writers will email their online responses to our inbox and the staff will assign it to a tutor. They will receive our feedback within 24-48 hours depending on the volume of requests and staff availability.

For Real-Time Phone Appointments writers should schedule these appointments at www.lewisu.edu/appointment. They should attach their paper to the appointment window. If they are unable to attach it, they may email their paper to us and let us know that they have a real-time phone appointment and which tutor it is with. Their tutor will call them at the time of the appointment and will have set up a Google Doc with their paper. Please note that the number may show up as a private/restricted number given that tutors are working remotely.
