PROGRAM DETAILS: MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (MSAI)

Flexible Format Designed for Working Professionals
The Master’s in Artificial Intelligence (MSAI) program will be offered in hybrid mode with flexible course modalities in order to serve working professionals. Most AI master’s degree courses can be taken fully online synchronously or asynchronously. Since an effective AI program will require hands-on experience with real datasets, projects, and case studies, courses that emphasize hands-on experience may require on-campus completion, but with a flexible schedule, as these components can be completed at any time during the academic year.

To complete the Artificial Intelligence master’s degree, students will need to complete a minimum of 34 credit hours, including:

  • 25 credit hours of core courses (including a 3-credit-hour Master’s project)
  • 6 credit hours of foundation courses
  • 3 credit hours of electives

Students with a strong background in computer science or related fields may substitute elective courses for foundational coursework.

Unique Practical Capstone Experience
Your final experience in the program is a 3-credit-hour AI Master’s Project to earn the MSAI degree. This experience is fulfilled by completing CPSC 69300 AI Master’s Project. In this course, you will develop a solution to an AI-related problem, write a capstone paper, and give a capstone presentation, unless some other method is approved by the capstone adviser and the Graduate Program Director.
