  1. Schedule a Project GO Advisement Meeting in November.
Email projectGO@lewisu.edu to set up a time to discuss your Project GO program options!  Recommended Deadline: November 1st, 2022.
  2. Start a Project GO Application in October. Attend one of our webinars for useful guidance. Webinars will be offered in November. Stay tuned for more information on when and where the webinars will take place! All webinars will be recorded and available on our website.
You can also start the application independently by going to https://www.rotcprojectgo.org/apply-now.
If you have questions or would like to request a personalized webinar, feel free to reach out to the Program Coordinator, Dr. Iwona Lech, by emailing projectGO@lewisu.edu.
  3. Send Recommendation Requests.
The Project GO application requires 2 recommendations:
    1. A letter from your commanding officer.
    2. An academic letter of recommendation that addresses:
         a) the relationship between the recommender and applicant and
         b) the reason the applicant is a good candidate for this scholarship.
    Other Tips:

    • Send requests for recommendation early in the application process.
    • Communicate with your Academic recommender that you plan to request a recommendation from them.
    • Some recommenders may request additional information from you so that they can write an ideal recommendation.
    • Be sure to make time to help your recommender or the PGO Program Coordinator help you in your Project GO application process.
    • Write your PGO Essays, this is your chance to explain why you are an excellent candidate for Project GO!
    Pro Tips:
    • Write up to the maximum word count, take every opportunity that you can to make a case as to why you should be awarded.
    • Answer the actual question(s) being asked! It seems simple, but rambling essays are far too prevalent.
    • Provide examples!
    • Have someone review your essays (like the free writing center in the Library).
    • Attend the Project GO Application webinars that cover Essay writing for more assistance and tips!
  4. Follow up with your Recommender. Check your Project GO application, if your recommender has not yet submitted a recommendation on your behalf, you may need to follow up with them with an email or an office visit. It is your responsibility to gather your recommendations. Keep in mind that applications will NOT be considered complete past the deadline without 2 appropriate recommendations.

Here's an example of a follow up letter for academic recommendations:

Good afternoon, Professor _____,  I hope this email finds you well. I am contacting you to follow up with you regarding my request for recommendation for the Project Global Officer Scholarship. Through your support for my application to Project GO, I hope to have the opportunity to attend The Lewis University Project GO in Russian this summer.  The deadline for the scholarship application will be March 8th, 2023 at 11:59 pm ET and my application will be considered incomplete without an Academic recommendation. Please let me know if there is any additional information that I can provide to assist in completing the recommendation. Thank you for your support of my application.  All the best, Cadet _____
