Network/Internet Access (Personal Computer)
Students living in residence halls may connect a personal computer or laptop to the University network. A data port is available in all
residence hall rooms for every resident student. Students will need an Ethernet card
and a data cable (See diagram below). All students accessing the Lewis
University network will register their computer on-line via Clean Access software, download
specified anti-virus software provided by the University free of charge
to the students, and will be prompted to install Windows Updates.
All residents connecting to the Internet via the
network are responsible for the purchase & installation of the
following:
For Desktop PC’s
- A 10/100 MB PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (see
example below).
- A Category 5 Network Cable (see example below).

For Laptops/Notebooks
- A PCMCIA 10/100 Fast Ethernet Card (see example
below).
- A category 5 network cable.
- Note that many newer laptops have the Ethernet card built
in.

These items may be
available for purchase at the University bookstore.
To login to Clean
Access:
-
Username: Your Lewis email
address.
- The standard format is: First 6 letters
of your last name plus first 2 letters of your first name plus
"@lewisu.edu." For example: a login for Mark Johnson would be
johnsoma@lewisu.edu.
- If your last name is less than 6 characters,
use for entire last name plus "@lewisu.edu." For example: the
username/password for Mark Sky would be skyma@lewisu.edu.
- Occasionally, because of duplication,
usernames don’t quite follow the pattern. The second ‘rule’ for generating
a username is: first 6 characters of your last name plus first initial
plus middle initial plus "@lewisu.edu." For Example: Since Mark
Johnson is already johnsoma, Matthew L Johnson might be johnsoml@lewisu.edu
.
- Password: Your Lewis ID
number (found on your Lewis ID card or course schedule).
