University AdvancementTHE GRANTS OFFICE: Grant SearchThere are a number of databases and resources you can consult as you seek to identify possible funding organizations. Searchable Databases Grants.gov is the federal government's effort to centralize the grant-making efforts of 26 federal agencies. Through this site, individuals can register to receive email updates on new opportunities for federal grant programs. Illinois Researcher Information Service (IRIS) The Illinois Researcher Information Service (IRIS) is a unit of the University of Illinois Library at Urbana-Champaign. Established in 1979, the IRIS office was originally set up to provide information on federal and private funding opportunities to the University of Illinois community. Over time, that mission grew to include other institutions of higher education in the United States. Today, IRIS offers three Web-based services to over 200 colleges, universities, and research centers:
The IRIS Database and the IRIS Alert Service help you find federal
and private funding opportunities in your field of interest;
and the IRIS Expertise Service helps people find you. The Foundation Center maintains a comprehensive database on U.S. grant providers and their grants. The Center also operates research, education, and training programs designed to advance philanthropy at every level. The site offers an introductory grant writing training course and information on free and low cost training programs around the country.
