After 20 years as a Sales Engineer with different corporations, including Ameritech, Fran was ready for a change. She realized that the time commitment, the travel away from home and the stresses of the job were taking their toll. Fran came upon her job by chance. She was checking the Lewis University website as a prospective school for her son to attend when she caught a glimpse of a job opening. The rest is history.
As the Director of Communications and Technology Project Management, Fran is responsible for the phone system at Lewis. She maintains the wires and infrastructure and monitors the voicemail system for students, staff and faculty. She also negotiates many of the vendor contracts. One of her current projects includes the evaluation of an Emergency Response system. Fran appreciates the flexibility she has with her job, the casual environment, and the positive interaction with the students, staff and faculty.
Fran’s involvement with Lewis University is not limited to the office. She is an active participant in many of the University’s charitable activities, including the annual Signum Fidei celebration, which raises money for need-based scholarships, and is a Co-Chair of the Lewis University United Way campaign. A leader in sponsoring volunteer efforts for the community, Fran also is a Board member of “Hearts for Hope”, the philanthropy arm of Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, and will participate in the University’s Mission trip to the Philippines. She believes working at Lewis creates “real life examples” of those qualities organizations try to instill in their employees. “If people are willing to open their eyes and their hearts to the opportunities that present themselves everyday they will learn how to give, work as a team and serve others.”
“Working at the University allows you to become a well-rounded individual,
focusing on work, family, community and country. It definitely provides you
with quality of life and a feeling of fulfillment.”
