Meetings, Events & ConferencesSafety and SecurityFire If the fire alarm sounds, you must evacuate the building. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the fire evacuation procedures posted on the bulletin board on each floor. All of our rooms are equipped with smoke detectors. If you hear a smoke detector alarm, please leave the floor immediately and report the alarm to a Conference Staff member or Campus Security. Building Security All building doors are kept locked. Your room key gives you 24-hour access to the front door of your residential building. For security reasons, doors should never be propped open. Except for the main entrance, all doors are alarmed as emergency exits. Room Security For your personal safety and the security of your belongings, please keep your residence doors locked at all times and carry your keys with you. The doors do not lock automatically; you must use your key, except in North Hall where the section doors will lock behind you. Lost Keys For security reasons, we change a lock every time a key is lost. If you lose your keys you will be charged for the re-coring of the room. Screens A window with no screen can be dangerous. There is a $25.00 charge to anyone who removes a screen. Your hall is equipped with air conditioning, should the system be malfunctioning in your building, please ask a Conference Staff member for maintenance. Tornadoes If there is a tornado in the area, an advance warning siren will go off. Should you hear the siren, please go down to the lowest level of the building or into the closest bathroom and stay away from all windows. Do not panic. A Conference Staff member will inform you of the all-clear. Conference Staff There is always a Conference Staff member on duty and ready to assist you. Please do not hesitate to call on them. Check the front desk location in your building for information. If you need assistance after hours, a notice is always posted at the front desk on how to obtain assistance. Campus Security You may reach campus security any time of the day or night by calling 5222 from an on-campus phone.
