Homecoming King and Queen

The 2009 Homecoming Committee is proud to present the Flyer King and Flyer Queen contest. You can print off a packet containing all the information you need to know about this exciting contest by clicking on the link on the left!

Homecoming Week 2009 will kick off on Monday, September 28th ending on Saturday, October 3rd with the theme of “Come Fly With Me”. (Flyer King & Queen Nominations and campaigns begin the week prior.) Check out the schedule on the left.

We hope that this will ignite your involvement to make this a fun filled and exciting time to celebrate the 78th Anniversary of Lewis University!

The 2009 Homecoming Committee encourages all individuals eligible to enter the Flyer King and Flyer Queen competition.

Congratulations on taking on the challenge of becoming this year’s Flyer King & Queen! This isn’t high school anymore. Nation-wide, collegiate Homecoming is the premier event on university campuses across the country! Lewis has chosen to bring back this tradition of having a Flyer King & Queen in order to add our own special flair to Homecoming.

What does all of this mean?

First of all, being nominated by your peers is an honor. The simple fact that people recognize you as a person of integrity is a great compliment. Representing your organization, hall and team will prove to be a great experience! This is how it works:

  • All nominees will meet individually with the SGB Homecoming Election committee.
  • 10 candidates will be selected (5 guys and 5 gals) to represent Lewis University on the Homecoming Court.
  • Homecoming Court candidates will have 1 week to campaign for Flyer King & Flyer Queen.
  • The student body will have 2 days to vote for their top 2 favorite candidates.
  • The 2009 Flyer King and Flyer Queen will be crowned the night of the SGB Fall Formal.

As part of the Homecoming Court, as a group, you will all decide upon a charity or cause you would like to extend yourselves to. It is about service. It’s who we are. This service can be in the form of volunteering, fundraising or simply donating items to your worthy cause. It can be a project on campus or somewhere out in the community, you decide! You will have the entire academic year to complete this project.

By adding this special flair back into the week-long events, it is sure to add to the excitement of what collegiate Homecoming is all about!
