The Wood Relief in the Entrance to the LaGrippe Pastoral Center
This wood relief is found in the
entrance of the LaGrippe Pastoral Center. It was created by Leslie
Colonna and Mark Swain, faculty in the department of Art and Design.
The artwork celebrates the words of John Baptist De La Salle, “Ask God to
make His spirit come alive in you.”
The artwork is made of a variety of
woods, intended to be warm and inviting. The wood, cut in squares
and arcs, reveals a spiral path, expanding out from, and flowing toward,
the cross, which is placed at the beginning of the spiral. It is our
hope that we would all ask God to make the Spirit come alive in our heart
that we might love God – Father, Son, and Spirit; serve others; and be a
committed member of this community.
