Residence Life

Resident Student Services

Dining Services
Lewis University and Sodexho Food Services have created one of the most flexible food programs available on any college campus. Resident students use a magnetic strip on their ID card to access their meal plan. The magnetic strip contains the retail dollars available to the student. The dollar value will vary depending on the meal plan the student selects. The amount of each purchase is deducted from the card and the remaining balance is represented on the receipt. Weekly meal plan is credited every Friday morning.

Students who commute may also purchase annual meal cards (minimum purchase of $15.00) in the Business Office.

Internet Service
Each residence room provides one Internet port per resident student to which a computer equipped with an Ethernet card may be connected, using a Cat5 cable. Cables and cards may be purchased at the Lewis University Bookstore. Students will be required to register when they connect to the network. Students must abide by the current Acceptable Use Policy on file in Student Services.

The Romeoville Campus also has Wireless Internet Nodes (WIN). The wireless network can be used in the Academic/Science Building, Benilde Hall, Chapel, Charlie’s Place (Cafeteria), Common Grounds, Courtyard Café, De La Salle Hall (Academic Area), Fitness Center (Common Area), Flyer’s Den, Information Booth, Library (1st and 2nd floors), LRC (3rd floor), Pavilion Recreation Center (Common Area), South Hall (Academic Area), Student Union (Main Floor) . Access to the WIN is free-of-charge, but students must register to get a login and password. No campus printers are wireless enabled.

Computer Labs
Public computer labs are available for student use during the semester. The Lab in the Library is open the most hours, but open hours for each lab will be posted. Network printers are available in these labs.

Email Account
Each student at Lewis University is provided an e-mail account, which is normally created during the first week of the semester. Important information (such as registration information and PIN numbers, event announcements, etc.) will be sent to the student’s Lewis email account and this account should be accessed and managed regularly. Students who need assistance in accessing or managing their Lewis University email accounts should contact the Help Desk (helpdesk@lewisu.edu, x5950 on campus, or (815) 836-5950 from off campus).

University Phone Service
Each residential room has one phone jack to which students may connect a telephone. This phone is assigned a four-digit campus extension, from which students may call any other 4-digit University number at no charge, and free local phone calls within a 10 miles radius.

Students who wish to use this phone line for calling off-campus must set up an individual billing account with our student telephone service company, Resicom (go to www.resi.com; under Specific College Information, type in Lewis). Students with a Resicom account will receive a personal 7-digit authorization code, which enables them to dial off-campus.

Lewis University provides a free voicemail system to all campus extensions. While some students choose to connect answering machines to their phone lines, voice mail will still take messages when the line is busy. Voice mail is also used to notify residential students of important announcements.

University Television Service
Each residential room has one jack to which students may connect a cable-ready television, using a coax cable (12' length is recommended). This service offers a wide variety of programming, including a premium cable channel, sports, food, music, and local programming. It is advisable to bring the original remote control for the television to access the menu that programs cable channels.

Lewis University Bookstore
Lewis' bookstore is operated by Follett and is located in De La Salle Hall of the Romeoville campus. The bookstore sells textbooks and various merchandise with the Lewis University logo. You may also contact the Lewis University Bookstore by calling (815) 836-5401.
