At Lewis University, residence halls are more than a place to sleep and eat. They are extensions of the classroom; a place where students learn to appreciate diversity by living and working with people different from themselves. Students learn decision-making skills, develop independence, gain self-confidence, and learn to accept responsibility.
The Residence Life full-time professional staff lives on campus, including the Director of Residence Life, Assistant Director, and two Area Coordinators. Graduate Residence Life Coordinators are assigned to each hall, along with undergraduate Resident Assistants. The University Ministry staff, including undergraduate Peer Ministers, provides additional support and guidance to our resident students.
Advantages of Living on Campus
The 12 residence halls on the Lewis campus are home to approximately 1,200 students. Lewis offers a variety of residence hall and meal plan options, as well as many amenities that include numerous useful services.
Among the advantages of living on campus you will find:Close proximity to classrooms, the library, Student Recreation and Fitness Center, dining facilities, and Student Union.
Cody Hall, located on the south side of campus near Ryan Hall, is a coed residence hall composed of newly renovated single and double rooms. Total occupancy for Cody Hall is 59 students. Cody has a common lounge on the first floor equipped with gaming tables and vending machines, VGA compatible large screen TV and VCR. Many rooms in Cody are equipped with a sink. Cody features some of the largest singles on campus with rooms ranging from 13’ X 10’ to 13’ X 18’. Only the basement lounge is air conditioned.
Ryan Hall is located on the south side of campus. Ryan Hall newly renovated, is a coed residence hall composed of single and double rooms. Total occupancy for Ryan Hall is 60 students. Ryan has a common lounge on the first floor equipped with gaming tables and vending machines, VGA compatible large screen TV and VCR. Only the basement lounge is air conditioned. Most rooms in Ryan are equipped with a sink. Ryan features large, singles that range in size from 13’ X 10’ to 13’X17’.
Pope John Paul II Hall features suite style living for 95 men and women. Six residents, who live in both single and double rooms within suites, share a restroom. Pope John Paul II Hall’s residents include second, third and fourth year students. Only students in good judicial standing are permitted to live in Pope John Paul II Hall. Pope John Paul II Hall features abundant lounge space including a multipurpose room, conference room, game room, study rooms and social lounges on each floor. Additionally, laundry facilities and full kitchens are located on each floor. Pope John Paul II Hall’s spacious double rooms are 10’6” X18’ and spacious single rooms are 10’6” X12’7”.
Mother Teresa Hall is Lewis University’s newest residence hall and features suite style living for 95 men and women. Six residents, who live in both single and double rooms within suites, share a restroom. Mother Teresa Hall residents include second, third and fourth year students, some of whom live in suites in which all six suite mates share the same major. Only students in good judicial standing are permitted to live in Mother Teresa Hall. Mother Teresa Hall features abundant lounge space including a multipurpose room, conference room, game room, study rooms and social lounges on each floor. Additionally, laundry facilities and full kitchens are located on each floor Mother Teresa Hall’s spacious double rooms are 10’6” X18’ and spacious single rooms are 10’6” X12’7”.
De La Salle Hall South is a coed living environment comprised of all double rooms. The total occupancy for De La Salle South is 61 and it is adjacent to the College of Education. De La Salle Hall South features a full service kitchen, with a TV and study lounge, as well as convenient access to Courtyard Cafe, serving sandwiches, salads, and specialty coffee products. Rooms in De La Salle Hall South are air-conditioned, equipped with sinks and are 11'8" X 15'4". The campus bookstore and mailroom are conveniently located in DeLaSalle.
De La Salle Hall North is an intensive study hall for students in good judicial standing, comprised of single rooms. De La Salle Hall North is adjacent to the College of Education and its occupancy is 59 in an air conditioned facility. De La Salle Hall North offers a common kitchen and a large recreation room on the first floor with a big screen TV, VCR, pool table and ping-pong table. It is also the home of the Courtyard Cafe, serving sandwiches, salads, and specialty coffee products. The campus bookstore and mailroom are conveniently located in DeLaSalle. Rooms in De La Salle Hall North are air-conditioned, equipped with sinks and are 8'4" X 12'.
South Hall offers an alcohol free first year living environment created to address the unique needs of the traditional aged, first year students adapting to the University environment. Specialized programs, staff, and support services are available to first year residents to facilitate their adjustment to University living. Featuring all single rooms, South Hall is attached to the College of Nursing and Health Professions and houses 65 students. One floor of South hall is dedicated to first year female nursing students. It has a full service kitchen located in the fourth floor lounge area. The South Hall student lounge features large screen TV and VCR and a ping-pong table. Rooms are 8'4" X 12', air-conditioned and are equipped with sinks.
Founders Hall is a traditionally styled residence hall housing a maximum of 172 residents in all double rooms. Founders Hall doubles are 10'11" X 13'11" and all are air-conditioned. The alcohol free first year student living environment is offered to address the unique needs of traditional aged first year students adapting to the University environment. Specialized programs, staff, and support services are available to first year residents to facilitate their adjustment to University living. Founders Hall features a recreation room on the lower level, which includes a big screen TV and VCR, full kitchen, pool table, and foosball table.
North Hall features suite style living for 171 men and women. Six residents share a common living area, bathroom and kitchenette in both single and double rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned. North Hall has a mix of second, third, and fourth year students with reserved space for students who desire quiet study living environments. Only students with good judicial standing are permitted to live in North Hall. North Hall features abundant lounge space including a multipurpose room, conference room, full kitchen / lounge area, and a fireside sitting room located in the main lobby. North Hall double rooms are 12' X 14' and single rooms are 8' X 12'.
Dorothy Day Hall
Fitzpatrick Hall offers non-first year students, single and double rooms. The total occupancy is 145. Fitzpatrick Hall features a full service kitchen and lounge with TV and VCR. Additionally, it is adjacent to The Backyard, which is composed of a lighted sand volleyball court, bonfire pit, courtyard with stationary grills and picnic tables. The newly added Common Ground, containing a 24/7 convenience store and study lounge, is located on the first floor. No more than seven residents share a restroom. Single rooms are 10' X 12'2'' and double rooms are 10' X 12'2" with an additional alcove measuring 6'6" X 3". All rooms are air-conditioned.
Sheil Hall is Lewis University's original residence hall. Sheil is a coed traditionally styled building housing 123 residents in both single and double rooms. Sheil room sizes vary from room to room. All rooms are air-conditioned. Sheil offers a alcohol free first year living environment created to address the unique needs of the traditional aged, first year students adapting to the University environment. Specialized programs, staff, and support services are available to Sheil Hall residents to facilitate their adjustment to University living. Sheil's first floor recreation room features a big screen projection TV and VCR, a pool table, and a ping-pong table. The third floor lounge has a full kitchen available to Sheil students at any time. Aditionally, Sheil Hall is located adjacent to The Backyard which contains a lighted sand volleyball court, bonfire pit, courtyard with stationary grill and picnic tables.
