Campus Events
Welcome Days
Welcome Days are scheduled the weekend before classes start in the Fall. The events start on the Friday and continue until late Sunday night. Welcome Days is a time for especially incoming freshmen to socialize and kick off their college experience. Upper classmen arrive on the Sunday and join the fun after they move back in. During this special weekend, we offer everything from caricature artists to community service, and let’s not forget the annual favorite – a foam party!
Homecoming Week
Homecoming Week is full of events! It always kicks off with fun giveaways in the cafeteria and then ends with a big athletic event and the annual fall formal. The peak of the night of fall formal is the crowning of Homecoming Queen and King.
Every day of the week has its own theme whether it’s “Support you major” day or “Wear you favorite Lewis sweats” day. We also have the “Hunt for the Medallion” event which goes on throughout the whole week. Every day, a clue is given through the university email, and whoever finds it first gets to keep it! This is a success every year!

Family Day
Family Day is part of Homecoming Week as it is celebrated on the Saturday of that particular week. Family Day is a day when we invite all the families of our students to visit the campus and enjoy some time with their loved ones. Admissions offer guided tours and SDL hosts Lewis favorite Jim Wand – the Hypnotist – as he puts on a first-class show. We also have events for the little ones, and a great live band to relax to.
Alcohol Awareness Week
Alcohol Awareness week is a time when the university educates our students about the dangers and consequences associated with the consumption of alcohol. Students will be able to try driving with vision-impaired goggles and see what it is like to drive under the influence. There will be a speaker who is educated on the topic, and the end of the week, students will be able to make a pledge to make better choices. Alcohol Awareness Week is concluded with mass in the Sancta Alberta Chapel.
Greek Week
Greek Week is a time for the Greeks at Lewis to shine and show the rest of the school what they are all about. InterFratority Council (IFC,) which is comprised of six Greek social organizations, puts on many different events throughout the week. One night is Karaoke Night, another one is the Obstacle Course. The Lewis community is invited and encouraged to attend all the events, but one cannot participate unless a member.
Birthday Bash
The Annual Birthday Bash happens in the spring of each school year. This fun-filled event is usually held on the University Green, weather permitting, and is jam-packed with activities and attractions including carnival games, live student band performances, free food, caricature artists, a University trivia contest, and free commemorative t-shirts. No Lewis student should miss this!
Workshops
Student Governing Board (SGB), along with SDL, facilitates two leadership workshops, one in the fall and one in the spring. These workshops are catered to the leaders of all Lewis organizations and clubs and are arranged to help the leaders guide their respective groups. Keynote speakers and professional workshop facilitators join us as we enrich the student leaders. The fall workshop is a retreat held in Geneva, WI, and is always an appreciated event.
Battle of the Bands
Battle of the Bands is arranged each December by a combined effort from Residence Hall Association and SDL. Any kind of band is welcomed, and this is really a great opportunity for all our musically blessed students to shine. The bands get judged by a jury and the winner takes home a nice prize. Remember, this is all live!
Relay For Life
Relay For Life is created by the American Cancer Society and it is a life-changing event that gives everyone across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Lewis University takes part in that battle and hosts a Relay For Life each year. Because cancer never sleeps, the relay is an overnight event, up to 24 hours long.
