Scholarships
Scholarships are available to students in two categories -
those that are based on outstanding academic records or
talent, and private scholarships
available to students who meet specified qualifications. For more

Scholarships based on Outstanding Academic
Records
**The
scholarships listed in this first group are available to full-time
undergraduate students based on outstanding high school or college
academic performance and students who've demonstrated outstanding
talent in theatre, art, music, or athletic ability. These
scholarships are not available to students who enroll in
accelerated, contract, cohort, and second bachelor degree
programs.
- Freshmen Scholarships
Freshmen students are awarded scholarships after a complete
review of their application and transcript. Several areas are
considered including: Composite ACT or SAT score, cumulative
gpa, strength of curriculum, and extra-curricular involvement.
- Transfer Scholarships
Transfer students with a minimum 2.5 cumulative gpa may
be considered for a transfer scholarship. Awards
are renewable based on cumulative gpa while attending Lewis University.
Required gpa varies depending on scholarship amount.
- Phi Theta
Kappa Scholarships
An annual
scholarship available to transfer students who are Phi Theta Kappa
members and who have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. This
scholarship is renewable for up to three years, based on a
cumulative Lewis University GPA of 3.0.
- Talent Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded by the Theatre, Art, and Music
Departments based on auditions and participation within the
respective programs. Awards may be continued based upon student
participation within these departments. Contact the department
chairperson in the specific department of interest for an
application.
- Lewis University Athletic
Awards
Scholarships are awarded to athletes by the
coaches in the respective sports. Awards may be renewed based
on
- academic standing;
- the exhibition of proper sportsmanship;
- continued participation on the athletic team; and
- completion of all required forms.

International Scholarship
Lewis University awards academic scholarships to international
students (non U.S. citizen or resident) based on ACT composite
scores or SAT critical reading and math scores along with a Grade
Point Average (GPA) based on an evaluation report produced by
an approved international credential evaluation service. The
awards range from $4,000 to $5,500. To be eligible for an academic
scholarship, complete an admission application and be accepted
to Lewis University by July 1.
Nursing
Grants/Scholarships
Several
scholarships/grants are available to nursing majors who meet
specified eligibility criteria. Some grants/scholarships are
awarded annually and others may be renewed. Examples are the
Julianne Murphy Scholarship, awarded annually to a sophomore
nursing major. Several scholarships are available through regional
community organizations and professional groups.
Registered nurses may also qualify for funding through the
State of Illinois Nursing Assistance Program. For additional
information on grants/scholarships contact the Office of Financial
Aid at
815-836-5263. RNs should also contact their
College of Nursing and Health Professions advisor.
- Alumni Scholarship
These scholarships are available to undergraduate full-time
students who are the children or spouses of Lewis University
alumni. Scholarships are awarded in the fall to students who are
accepted for admission prior to June 1st. Scholarships can be for
up to $1,000 per academic year and may be renewable up to four
years based on a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or better.
- Army ROTC Scholarship
The U.S. Army offers Nursing scholarships to outstanding students
enrolling in the four-year ROTC program. These scholarships
provide tuition assistance of up to $16,000 per year, a book
allowance of up to $450 per year, and $150 monthly living
allowance.
These tuition scholarships are available to freshmen students
for four years. Interested students can obtain applications
from ROTC units, high school guidance counselors, or the Department
of Military Science. The catalogue specifically states Nursing
scholarships.
- Air Force ROTC Scholarships
Scholarships are available to incoming freshman as well as current
college students. Scholarships may pay up to full tuition and
fees as well as a textbook allowance. All members receive a
monthly subsistence allowance per month in their final two
academic years. Scholarships are available for four, three-
and two-year periods, depending on the student’s academic
major. Students can contact the Department of Aerospace Studies

- Lewis University
Endowed Scholarships
Lewis
University has a number of Endowed Scholarships that are awarded
annually through various campus departments. The number of
scholarships and value differ from year to year. For more
