“The Francis Revolution: Taking Stock of the New Pope at the One-Year Mark” will be presented by John Allen Jr., Vatican correspondent and senior Vatican analyst for CNN. The Twelfth Annual Signum Fidei Lecture at Lewis University begins at 2 p.m. March 20 in the St. Charles Borromeo Center Chapel, located on the university’s main campus in Romeoville. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
Allen will discuss the most important twists in the evolving saga of Pope Francis and his impact on both the Church and the world. He argues that it adds up to a revolution in Catholic life.
As a journalist, Allen covered several aspects of this revolution. He reported on the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI and the election of Francis from Rome. He spent time in Argentina developing background on the new pope. He has covered Francis’ major trips and decisions. Allen also has interviewed all the major figures on the Roman scene with insight into the Francis leadership.
The Signum Fidei Lecture is organized by Lewis University’s Center for Ministry & Spirituality to celebrate the university’s Catholic and Lasallian heritage, bringing to campus men and women of vision and faith to illuminate issues affecting the Church and its people, to reflect on spirituality in the Catholic tradition, and to provide a forum for topics based on Church teaching.
