Lewis University aviation student earns $10,000 aviation scholarship

Published: February 7, 2014.

Lewis University Aviation Student Montee Franklin recently earned the 2013 International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT) Foundation Scholarship award of $10,000. Finding Franklinís achievements exemplary, the foundation determined that he shows great potential as a member of the aviation community.

ďIím grateful for this scholarship. It gave me hope that my educational goals are possible. It gave me confidence to pursue my aviation dreams,Ē commented Franklin, who is in his second year of studying Aviation Maintenance Management.

The ISTAT Foundation is actively engaged in helping young people develop potential careers in aviation offering scholarships of up to $10,000 directly to college-level students. The students must be academically qualified, in need of financial support to complete studies and an enrolled student in the upcoming school year. The program is administered by the Scholarship Committee of the ISTAT Foundation Board of Trustees in conjunction with accredited colleges who recommend qualified students.

In addition to providing a scholarship to Lewis University students, ISTAT has supported the university in its efforts to inspire aviation careers. For several years, ISTAT has financially supported the annual Women and Minorities in Aviation Career Conference at Lewis University.

Founded in 1994, the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading Foundation provides funds for scholarships, educational programs and grants to qualified individuals and institutions that promote the advancement of commercial aviation and humanitarianism. Funding for the ISTAT Foundation programs is provided by annual grants from ISTAT and contributions from individuals and companies. The ISTAT Foundation Board of Trustees is responsible for fundraising and the selection of programs that meet the Foundationís objectives.
