The Lewis University Third Annual Service Fair grew in size this year from 14 to 17 community partners attending. The Sept. 5 event was sponsored by the Lewis University Community Engagement Cooperative (CEC). Community partners from Lewis University and the surrounding community shared their hopes, goals and ideas for serving with each other in the community. Sunny Hill Nursing Home, Easter Seals and Loaves & Fishes were among the new community partners who attended.
Service learning faculty and students as well as student organization members and other service-minded people attended the fair. “Partnerships were formed which will promote justice and support efforts to meet the hopes and needs of community members,” Dr. Christie Billups, Coordinator of the Office of Service Learning, commented.
The CEC is a collaborative group of Lewis University entities who seek to grow strategic partnerships in order to enhance student success and address external needs in the community. It is comprised of the Office of Service Learning, Student Development and Leadership, University Ministry Outreach, Career Services and Multicultural Student Services.
