The Lewis University Social Media Club hosted a video chat with Ian Hill, community engagement specialist for news at NPR/PBS member station KQED in San Francisco. He discussed social media and the evolution of platforms with journalism and business, and what college students can take away from it. Hill also discussed how social media helped with collaboration in journalism with listeners and NPR and PBS.

The Social Media Club was established by Alex Veeneman, Rachel Stella, Dave Hansen and adviser Ben Eveloff, assistant professor of communications, in 2012 to examine social media and its usage in the 21st century. Social Media Club’s primary mission is to expand digital media literacy, promote standard technologies, encourage ethical behavior and share best practices. The Lewis University chapter is open to all Lewis students and has a variety of events scheduled every semester.
