Three Lewis men’s volleyball student-athletes have been selected as All-Americans by Volleyball Magazine. Junior outside hitter Jay Petty
“To have three Volleyball Magazine All-Americans for the first time in program history is an outstanding accomplishment and an exclamation point on a fantastic season,” Lewis men's volleyball head coach Dan Friend said. “Each of the three guys embodies what we want our student athlete doing on a daily basis here at Lewis. They all have great grades, compete and execute at a high level, support the greater community and win.”
Petty’s selection is another in a long line of honors in 2012. The junior already earned AVCA All-America Second Team, All-MIVA First Team and MIVA Tournament MVP honors this year. He was also named the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week four times. He hit .318 with 421 kills and 160 digs in 2012. His 4.01 kills per set averaged ranked sixth in the nation.
Boldog has already garnered AVCA All-America Second Team, All-MIVA First Team and All-MIVA Tournament accolades for his play in 2012. He averaged 10.76 assists per set and dished out 1,151 assists. He ran a Lewis offense which hit .321 for the season, fourth best in the nation.
Flick has already earned MIVA First Team and All-MIVA Tournament Team accolades this year. He set a program record for single season hitting percentage thanks to a .510 mark in 2012. He finished his career at Lewis sixth in total blocks (343).
“I’m very happy to see Aaron recognized,” Friend said. “He deserves the award after being a captain for four years, leading the country in hitting percentage this year and helping the squad to the National Semifinals. It’s a great honor to cap off an impressive career.”
The last Volleyball Magazine All-American for Lewis came in 2009 when Drew Pickering earned Second Team accolades.
