Lewis University Electrochemical Society Pedals 4 Preemies on Pi Day

All are invited to participate in Lewis Universityís Electrochemical Society Pedal 4 Preemies event in honor of Pi Day, March 14. The day celebrates the mathematical constant pi, 3.14. The student chapter of ECS will host Pedal 4 Preemies, which will benefit the Loyola Medicine neonatal intensive care unit.

The event starts at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13 and will conclude at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, in the atrium on the main floor of the Lewis University Science building. During the 26-hour event, participants will ride a stationary bike that will rotate a 5-foot diameter wheel. The Lewis students will calculate how may pi are generated at the end of the event. There will also be demonstration shows and fun activities for children.

Pedal 4 Preemies proceeds will be donated to Loyola Medicineís NICU on March 17 at the Menís volleyball home game against Loyola University. Lewis University Menís and Womenís volleyball coaches Dan and Lorelee have a daughter who was born prematurely, weighing 1 lb. 3 oz. at Loyola Medicineís NICU.
