The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)is in the midst of a resurfacing project on IL-53 from Renwick Rd. to Belmont Dr. in Romeoville.
The contractor will be milling, resurfacing, and patching. The project will require one lane to be closed in each direction. Work will be performed at various times, between the hours of 6am-6pm. The project has an estimated completion date of October 7, 2013.
Motorists can expect delays during times when the lane closures are in effect and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers, signing and striping in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
Also, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has scheduled the closure of the moveable bridge on Jefferson Street (Eastbound Route 30) in Joliet over the Des Plaines River, to perform maintenance work, beginning Monday, September 30, 2013. It is anticipated that the work will be completed and the bridge re-opened by Friday, October 18, 2013.
Those traveling to Lewis who use the Jefferson Street bridge are advised to seek an alternate route for those few weeks.
