The Lewis University English Department recognized several English majors during a recent ceremony. The Rho Lambda Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta inducted new members into the English honor society and released its literary journal Voices. Several senior English majors also presented electronic portfolios.
Sigma Tau Delta promotes interest in literature and the English language in communities, and fosters all aspects of the discipline of English, including literature, language, and writing. Candidates for undergraduate membership must have completed a minimum of two college courses in English language or literature beyond the usual requirements in freshman English. The candidate must have a minimum of a B or equivalent average in English and in general scholarship, must rank at least in the highest 35 percent of his/her class, and must have completed at least three semesters or five quarters of college course work.
Inductees include Bianca Apato, Ashley Castillo, Delia Ercoli, Samantha Fox, Stephanie Lipinski, Theresa Marten, Deidre McCormick and Stephanie Raga.
New officers for the 2013-2014 academic year include Bianca Apato (director of social activities), Ashley Castillo (new co-president) and Sabrina Hill (new co-president). Dr. Dawn Walts, assistant professor of English, serves as moderator of the English honor society.
Other members include Ryan Arciero, Delia Ercoli, Katie Esposito, Samantha Fox, Stephanie Lipinski, Theresa Marten, Deidre McCormick, Stephanie Raga, Megan Schlegel, Kelly Schreiber, and Christine Sellin.
Senior English majors who presented electronic portfolios during the ceremony included Ryan Arciero, Lucas Boelter, Katie Esposito, Samantha Fox, Megan Schlegel, Christine Sellin, Michelle Vucsko and Steffinie Winfrey.
