Gateways to Opportunity entitles Lewis University

Lewis University approved as an entitled institution for Gateways to Opportunity credentials

Gateways to Opportunity has entitled Lewis University for Early Childhood Education Credential Level 5. The credentials are effective through 2018.

As an entitled institution, Lewis University students will have the opportunity to qualify for credentials as they take courses or complete a degree through the Early Childhood Education Program. Lewis University is among a very select group of institutions in Illinois to be chosen for the Gateways to Opportunity credentials. These credentials reflect multiple professional standards, including National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards. Gateways to Opportunity is an Illinois Professional Development System and is designed to provide support and guidance to practitioners who help serve children and families in Illinois.

Lewis University offers Early Childhood Education with Special Education and English as a Second Language Endorsements at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Lewis University’s Early Childhood Education program prepares educators that are specialized in intervention instruction in the early grades. It enables educators to adapt curriculum materials and teaching techniques to successfully meet the needs of all students.
