The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced on Wednesday (Jan. 16) that Lewis University senior sprinter Kamille Ferguson (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) has been named the GLVC Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending January 13th.
Ferguson earned a NCAA Provisional in the 55-meter dash at the Lewis Open on Friday (Jan. 11), as she placed second with a time of 7.24. Earlier in the meet, she set a career-best time of 7.23 in the 55-meter preliminaries.
"Kamille had a tremendous opener (following Christmas break)," Lewis head women's track and field coach Dana Schwarting said. "It usually takes about a month after Christmas break before any of our student-athletes start to hit their stride.
"If this is the case, Kamille has a great indoor season to look forward to," Schwarting continued. "To hit an NCAA qualifying mark right out of the chute is really unbelievable."
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Jan. 18), as they host the Lewis Invitational at the Recreation Center Fieldhouse at 4 PM.
