Tech club at Lewis holds Slenderthon tournament

Published: November 9, 2012.

The Prometheon Technology Club held a tournament called Slenderthon which centered on the popular psychological horror game Slender. The tournament was held on Oct. 29 at the university’s Main Campus in Romeoville. The event was held in a computer science lab in complete darkness, which made for an immersive and thrilling experience.

The tournament entailed 10-15 participants were playing the game all at once. "The tournament was a good opportunity for students to celebrate their passion for technology and build camaraderie, while having fun," commented Dr. Ray Klump, chair of Math and Computer Science. Prometheon is planning similar events in the future.

Prometheon Technology Club is an interdisciplinary organization open to students from all majors who share a love of technology and imagination. The group gets together to create and enjoy computer games, videos, music and electronic projects - from designing MAME cabinets to tricking out Xboxes, holding robotics competitions and hosting all-night gaming parties. Prometheon members also share their knowledge, hosting educational sessions on computer security, buying an HD TV and other relevant consumer topics. They also have led computer collection drives and refurbishment efforts to support charitable organizations.
