Welcome to Lewis University Library, Gina! What aspects of your position as Secretary to the Library Director are you most excited about?
What I am most excited about being the new Secretary to the Library Director is that I get to meet so many new people. I am also excited to be part of the Library and seeing it grow and succeed.
What attracted you to Lewis University? What do you like most about it so far?
What attracted me to Lewis University was friends, family, and colleagues have said many great things about working here, like that the staff and faculty are so friendly. What I like most so far in my position is that I really feel like I am able to help with the day-to-day functions of the Library.
You are active in the local community, including the Romeoville Citizens Police Academy. Can you tell us a little about those activities?
I absolutely love this community. I have worked in this community for more than 10 years and through this time I was invited to take a free class that gives the community a basic understanding of police practices in a wide range of areas and it is hoped that this program will allow participants to get to know the members of the Police Department better. I have been given the great opportunity sit on the Board of Directors as treasurer beginning this year.
What are you passionate about?
What I feel I am passionate about is flowers. In my spare time I surround myself in flowers, and enjoy making flower arrangements. I love making a particular day in someone’s life that much brighter because of the flowers I put together for them.
If you had a year off with pay (hypothetically, of course!), what would you do?
I think if I had a year off with pay I would travel to Italy and explore where my ancestors came from.
What are you reading (or what was the last book you read)?
A book I am reading at the present time is Some like it Witchy by Heather Blake, which is book 5 out of 7 in her Wishcraft Mystery series. Heather has a great way of blending crime, magic and romance, which is a perfect blend for my taste in books.
