Meet Our New Grad Assistant!

Meet Isabel!

What is your position at the library and why did you choose to work for the Lewis Library?

I am a Graduate Assistant mainly working on projects and at the research desk. I chose to work for the Lewis Library because it’s the intersection of a lot of my passions: education, technology, and books! I feel that I have a lot to contribute to the Lewis Library but also a lot to learn from working here that I can take with me in my future as a high school teacher.

Choose any movie or TV show title that represents the “story of your life.”  Which character are you from the movie/show?

I’d choose the reality tv show Survivor. If I was a character, I would be a contestant who makes it through to at least the jury (for anyone familiar with the show), using my wits and making alliances to make it far. I’d also be someone who isn’t a huge physical threat, but I’d work hard enough at camp so I can fly under the radar for the most part.

If you could have any one superpower, what would you choose?

It would definitely be telekinesis. I like that it represents the power of the mind, and in a lot of the canon of comic books, movies, and television it’s one of the more powerful abilities out there. Also, it’s very convenient!

Libraries are constantly evolving. What are some things that you would like to see happen at the Lewis library?

I feel that for me as a student the library has become a place to destress, to take a quiet time for yourself whether you’re resting or still trying to be productive. I think I’d like to see the library lean into that a bit more by placing reminders that students deserve rest, providing treats and goodies perhaps, promoting strategies for self-care, etc.

What are you reading (or what was the last book you read)?

The last book I read was The Maidens by Alex Michaelides just before the fall semester started. It’s a mystery thriller surrounding Greek mythology and the students and faculty at the University of Cambridge. It kept me guessing until the very end! I highly recommend it!
