Acceptance by Drone

The Dept. of Aviation and Transportation Studies proved once again its commitment to safe and innovative flight. An unmanned aircraft (drone) left the Lewis University campus at 10 am on Monday, Nov. 13, heading north to deliver eight letters of acceptance to Romeoville High School students. Believed to be the first of its kind in the nation, this delivery demonstrates the ongoing commitment to flight innovation at Lewis since it began in 1932 as an aviation technical school for boys.

Romeoville Mayor John Noak, who was on hand to welcome the students, parents, Lewis University and Romeoville High School representatives said, “We’re so proud that the first drone delivery of this type happened right here in Romeoville. Innovation leads to progress and Lewis University is a prime example of this. What a great experience for these students. They were not only accepted to a leading college, but they were part of a major milestone in the advancement of drones.”
