The Best Jobs in the U.S. : 2019

Indeed.com has published its annual Best Jobs List for 2019. I try to stay on top of the trends in the various career fields because it can give clues as to what future students might be seeking in their college education. There are some long-standing professions on the list, such as Insurance Broker and Realtor. There are also new emerging professions such as Machine Learning Engineer, Robotics Engineer, and Senior Supply Chain Specialist.

One of the ties that bind all of these professions together is the increased emphasis on “soft skills’ that employers seek. It is no longer enough to have the technical skills necessary for a role. Employers are increasingly looking for individuals who are creative thinkers, strong team players, clear communicators, and embracers of innovation.

By the time many of your current students graduate from college, the list will look very different. A strong liberal-arts based education will be the key to their future success.
