Kidzfest is held every year the first weekend of August in downtown Joliet. This year we had over 15 College of Education student volunteers and myself and Professor Ann Obrien to run this years Farm Animal Theme Story Telling. We had farm related stories and then animals that we brought out like a show and tell. It was a huge hit.
This year we also added a new tradition of having over 700 hundred books donated to be given away to the community members. We told the community children to keep the books going and pass it on when they were done reading it to someone else who would enjoy it.
The smiles on the children’s faces and our future teacher candidates were priceless. Our mission of providing service to the community as true Lasallians was evident on this day.
