In January 2014, in response to numerous requests by faculty, Provost Stephany Schlachter announced inauguration of the Lewis University Student Academic Conference Support Program
as a pilot program. Given its successful launch, the Provost is pleased to announce the continuation of this program, which promotes undergraduate and graduate student research by funding travel for presentations at juried disciplinary/research conferences. Lewis University faculty scholarship and research is advancing in multiple disciplines. Faculty are also engaging students in this critical work to advance learning. This program will help students to share their accomplishments.
On this site, you will find an overview of the Lewis University Student Academic Conference Support Program
along with student application materials; a list of documentation needed; the acknowledgement of personal responsibility and waiver of liability; and budget forms. Students who are admitted to and in good standing in an undergraduate or graduate academic program at Lewis University are eligible to apply for funding to support. The Culture of Inquiry Advisory Committee will be vetting the applications. The rubric used by the Committee to evaluate applications is also available on this site.
There will be three application deadlines: (a) October 10, 2014, for Fall 2014 presentations; (b) February 13, 2015 for Spring 2015 presentations; and (c) April 10, 2015 for Summer 2015 presentations. All applications with the supporting documentation are to be e-mailed or delivered to Susan Sheldon in the Office of Graduate Studies. Her e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org
and her office location is LR-334.
During Summer, 2014, the pilot program will be assessed for further implementation.
