Busy, Busy, Busy
Hello again! Week 5 in all my classes is now half way over, and my first exams of the semester are scheduled for the next couple of days. It is exciting to know that once they are over, I got at least another couple of weeks before I have to start preparing again.
Intramural sports are in full swing, and I am currently on a flag football team. We play 6 games sporadically over the next couple weeks and an intense tournament will follow. 2-0 is a pretty good start; hopefully we continue our success. Also, indoor soccer and wiffleball seasons have come to an end. I have much anticipation for the rest of the sports this semester. 3 v. 3 basketball is coming up as well, and although I’m not that good, I have a lot of fun!
Every Wednesday from 3:15 to 5, I will be spending my time in the D’Arcy Great Room mentoring kids (ages 6 to 11) from 2 of the local elementary schools. This program is one of the best organizations I have been involved with and is designed to help kids stay on the right path. Having done this program all last year, we have a huge impact on these kids; it was hard to see them go in the spring.
I am also the Peer Minister in Founders Hall this year. (My job description includes building community in the dorms, journey with others as they grow in faith, and have fun.) My first social of the year is all finished up, and now I’m on to the next one. Since there is at least one Peer Minister in every dorm, we have certain options and requirements for activities/ socials we have to put on in our own assigned dorm.
Finally, as fall break draws nearer, I am excited to be heading back home to San Francisco. I heard the weather has been pretty nice, and it feels like a good time for a visit. Even though it’s only a couple of days, it’s worth every minute.
Until next time!
